Athletic personalities and fitness?
Group dynamics are always an interesting experiment. When you add on an intense fitness testing elements the dynamics become much more apparent. I live my life inside this physical experiment. Long hours watching people struggle though tough workouts has really opened my eyes to many personality traits of an athlete. Here are a few observations I’ve made and I hope you can identify yourself and have a little laugh. #1- THE ROOKIE The “nervous pee” is a true sign of a rookie Sometimes shy, guarded and in need of a hug after a hard workout Takes direction well, but often forgets to count reps A little tentative about what intensity really means? #2- THE SPEED DEMON Main focus is to finish first at all costs Movement standards are secondary to the need for speed Only lung burning sweaty workouts matter to the speed demon Rest “whats rest?” #3- HAWK…
2008-2013 Review
This past few years have come with a lot of change for the Rebels. 2008-2010 Driving door to door delivering fitness one client at a time. Working in various gyms and starting an idea for the future. 2010 – 2011 Renting out some space in a local gym was our first home. We started Monday night ladies classes with 4 ladies that grew to 6 .We had some fun workouts, some laughs and the first idea that the “Rebel” dream could one day become a reality. For those that started in the “smelly” gym I thank you, without this first step the “Rebel” way would still be driving door-to-door delivering fitness in a bag to clients one at a time. 2011 – 2012 The 2 car garage was our home gym…the small group of 6 quickly grew to a small group of 25. 2014 and your fitness scale
Resolutions you say? The New Year’s resolution is a phenomenon that seems to give most people a green light for excess and indulgence over the holiday season. The beers before noon, the extra dessert and that extra plate of turkey dinner is all validated with the idea that January 1st will be a new change, a new person and new habits. The internal dialogue and lying to ourselves does nothing for our long term development. Every day we have a multitude choices to make; grande? – no foam? – skinny? – extra hot? “don’t get me started”. The choices in question here are: Are we living today increasing our health and wellness? Are we living today decreasing our health and wellness? No one is perfect and living life always increasing your health and wellness in not realistic…but making a prolonged decisions (2 week vacation) can seriously tip your fitness…
